Care Home Staff
Bringing Gem into your home is very easy. SimplyUnite has a dedicated support team who will arrange for installation and training, using a network of technicians and trainers across the country.
We have found that it often works well to ask one or two members of staff, who are particularly interested in supporting residents in their use of Gem, to oversee how it is used in the home.
Our Customer Support team is always available to provide support and ideas to make the service a great success.
SimplyUnite frequently receives reports of improvement in residents' outlook, sociability and physical well-being as a result of being in regular contact with family and friends using Gem.
Gem will enable you, as care staff, to learn more about:
- The lives and interests of individual residents through helping them set up their own on-screen albums, containing photos, videos and favourite films or music.
- Their choices for new daily activities, from sing-a-longs to sharing travel tales. Gem can be a valuable tool for both individual and group activities.
- What stimulates those residents living with dementia? Gem can be your source of meaningful pictures and familiar music.
There's another advantage to having Gem in your care home: You can also use the system for your own professional development. You can access e-learning packages or research in areas of care in which you have a particular interest. You can even create your own documents and maintain spreadsheets.
'SimplyUnite is a huge success. One of our residents had a stroke and now has problems with her speech. Since viewing photos sent though SimplyUnite she has started to speak in short sentences. Another resident who used to be a typist said: 'It makes me feel young again and I CAN remember how to spell!''

'We are aware when we get a new resident that we are looking after the whole family. We try and engage the grandchildren and young people as much as we can. This is perfect for them.'
